Hey there,
could it be, that the conditions in the themer doesn’t work anymore since WP 6.3?
I have the following conditions applied:
Before updating to the latest Version (don’t know if it was either cwicly or wp), those conditions don’t apply anymore and it uses the fallback index-template again! 
(Overriding Page-Template doesn’t help anylonger too)

Sorry forgot to mention it only affects the conditions “direct child of”. I have also applied the condition to the parent pages directly and that still works:

This should be fixed in 1.2.9.9.3.
