A little hiccup with the Default Units

Orange ones do not even allow for custom units, I’m a bit confused.
Red ones don’t work. Some of them pick up the Fallback unit, some ignore everything.

In general, I think that the default units deserve a revisit.
The order could be adapted to the new UI, missing properties could be added.
The dropdown also should close after selecting a unit.
Beside the reset option, a copy/paste functionality is appreciated.

Hello @Marius,

Thanks for the report!
I was just looking at this yesterday and noticed there were issues.

I also had the same remarks about the current UI.
Was playing with the idea of directly integrating the default unit setting within the new Panel Options property selector. This would make it much easier to modify the units that are bothering one.
What do you think?

Yes to copy/paste :+1:

Hey @Louis.

That’s actually a good idea, I hadn’t thought of it.
The new UI opens up a lot of great new possibilities.

Would the current version be retained in the global settings?
If not (which might be the way to go here), what happens to the global reset function and the potential future copy/paste function?
If I deactivate access to the design properties in the role editor, will I also lose access to the default units?
In this case, further options within the Role Editor might be necessary to separate design properties from default units.

I can now see the power and flexibility of the Panel Options.
They are not limited to design properties. I wonder what else could be included in the future.
Maybe the right place for Quick Flex, Linked Values and Free-Form rules, etc.?

Tested and works as intended. Awesome!

Just in case you are not aware of, word-spacing isn’t available and therefore picks up the fallback unit.

Here is what I also found.

Column-gap for flex does not pick up the default unit.
Column-gap for grid though is working as intended.

Just wanted to point this out, although this isn’t an issue for me, as I see it as a placeholder in the first place until actively editing it:

Hello @Marius,

Thanks for feedback and detailed attention!

Indeed! Will be fixed in tomorrow’s stable release.

Thanks for noticing that. We switched to having all Gap default units share a single base, this one was unfortunately left out.

Yes, correct. I hesitated about this when we fixed the issue you pointed out about default units not being used…
Since you brought it up, it’s best we have the proper units for the placeholder, although I won’t extend that to the stylesheet definition itself as specific to each user and not realistically traceable.

Hopefully we can move this to Fixed Bugs tomorrow
Thanks once again.
