Post editor sluggish in Firefox

With Cwicly 1.3.3.1 and WP 6.4.1, I’ve noticed that the post editor is now quite sluggish on the back-end.

To reproduce: type a bunch of random characters in a paragraph block. It will take a couple seconds for all the characters to appear.

The longer the post the more lag there is.

This doesn’t happen in Chrome or with Cwicly disabled.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing trouble with this.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to reproduce this issue on my end.

Could you possibly provide a step-by-step reproduction process?

Additionally, it would be helpful if you could specify:

  • Are multiple editor pages open, or does this occur with just one?
  • Does the issue occur instantly or after a certain period?

Hey @Araminta,

I haven’t been able to reproduce on a blank install yet. But it happens on a production site, the staging, and a completely different site with all other plugins deactivated.

I can confirm that 1.3.3.1 with 6.3 works fine, but once I update to 6.4 it gets sluggish.

Happens with just one page open, and occurs instantly.

Thanks for the staging installation you shared with us.
1.3.4.3 should fix the lagging issue you were experiencing in Firefox.

Can you confirm that this is the case on your end?

Ah yes, the typing experience looks to be much better. Thank you!

The only thing is that I have noticed that the Cwicly block inspector is still sluggish in Firefox as well. After a quick test, it might only be related to global classes.

Ex. try changing the padding for a div on the block class, and then try adjusting it when a global class is selected.

Hey @sunny,

We made quite a few adjustments in 1.3.4.4 which should greatly help the lag that was appearing in Firefox.

Have you had the chance to try it out?

Didn’t notice any lag yesterday - seemed to be hugely improved.

Will report back if there’s something I come across, but you can mark this one as fixed.
