Cwicly design toolbar not loaded for templates

Description:

For some reason the Cwicly design toolbar (responsive, scaling, pseudo, dynamic preview, etc) does not load on template pages.

We have this working on other sites, we have attempted disabling plugins to see if it is a conflict but no luck so far.

There is a console error that may or may not be related:

Environment info

  • WordPress version: 6.3.1
  • Cwicly Plugin version: 1.2.9.9.5

Strangetech,

I noticed the same yesterday with some testing work on a staging site.

The plot thickens. This behaviour is completely unpredictable. After disabling and re-enabling all plugins, the toolbar re-appeared.

Then, while working on a page, simply clicking the button to show/hide the wordpress “settings” sidebar - removed it.

This happened regardless of the initial state of the sidebar, i.e. if it was open or closed initially, clicking the button hid the Cwicly design toolbar.

StrangeTech,

FYI: I updated WP to version 6.3.1 and for now, all good.

Unfortunately we are already on 6.3.1.

I’ve been seeing the same behavior over the past couple of weeks. I figured it might have to do with my setup which includes a translation plugin and that was making it wonky. Have you tried testing if it’s different between whether you click on the template edit button (the little pencil) or the image of the template? I get the impression that clicking on the image will give me the toolbar more reliably than the little pencil.

Hi @StrangeTech,

Thank you for taking the time to report this!

I can confirm this is a bug, as I have experienced myself, that occurs regardless of the WP version.
It appears to consistently happen when opening/closing the Settings toggle in the Site Editor.

For the Cwicly toolbar to reappear, be sure to reload your page.

Thank you @dennis77 and @mariaarangokure for confirming this on your ends.
We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Rest assured, we will have a fix for this as soon as possible.

Thank you @Araminta.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to report this @StrangeTech!

With 1.3 and the rework of Cwicly’s interface, the design toolbar should no longer experience this issue.
Kindly let us know if this is the case on your end.

Thank you.

@Araminta, The new toolbar is beautifully done. Icons and layout are great, nice and compact with efficient use of space, and I can confirm this issue is fixed for us.
