Copy linked does not work anymore, block classes do not get transferred to the new block, but all styles of the original block.
Not sure if related to this recent change:
I’ve tested this on 2 different installations. One local, the other live.
Also toggled the copy linked icon several times and tried with both states.
In beta-6, everything was working correctly.
Console doesn’t say anything as far as I can see.
This makes sense. After the change I tested the user persistence part of this, but never actually tested the copy linked feature extensively as we don’t use it.
I hope so, as the manual workaround, especially with deeply nested elements, is a real pain. Also because of the little quirk I will describe below.
@Louis, can you please also take a look in terms of manually adding existing block classes to blocks?
When selecting them directly from the modal class list, they are picking up name changes of the original class.
When adding them as virtual class with shift + enter/click, this is not the case.
They appear to be a separate instance, as I can add them again via class list, after I added them manually with the shortcut (also without renaming ofc).
This was no issue before the class modal has been introduced, I think.
Thanks for the report.
Indeed, there is an unfortunate link preventing the Copy Linked feature of firing correctly.
This will be fixed in the next update.
This is correct, as the previous class selector automatically selected the “linked” class, there was no choice.
I’m not sure this is something we want to reintroduce… You are directly clicking on the Create button, instead of selecting it from the Block category as you did the second time. What do you think?
Thanks for the confirmation, and also your plans to address it asap.
I’m looking forward to it working again.
The current problem is not being forced adding the classes manually, but rather that it is not possible to duplicate blocks without their styles.
I just realized again what a great feature this is and how one can manage without it.
You are totally right!
After looking at the it again in the overall context, what I said makes little sense.
Since virtual classes are so versatile, I didn’t take all the circumstances into account.
But it’s good that the topic has come up and been clarified. I must have assumed a different way of functioning in the past. Now I can take that into account in the future.
