Here are a few open source Webflow alternatives, in addition to Webstudio, you might want to check out:
This needs to be mentioned here:
Using on production with WooCommerce.
Still havenāt created anything with Webstudio yet, because waiting on their e-commerce feature.
I got Webstudio as a LTD
. I was really looking for a WP builder because I have several great plugins for WP. But after Zion & Cwicly
was looking for something already open code so Webstudio fit the bill. I got unlimited but in reality, what I got is unlimited hosting for Webstudio because its opensource. And it was already backed by several big players so financing was not an issue.
Iām wondering how we could get access to the Github repo to make Cwirly available to everyone before it appears to be no longer supported.
The domain is expiring soon.
Letās see if the domain will be renewed.
If not, we no longer able to access to this forum anymore.
In that case, does that affect our sites build with cwicly? If so, I probably have to hurry up to save my websites in some way to be able to rebuild them somewhere elseā¦any idea about a good way to export a website build on cwicly?
Maybe I will try to transfer my personal website to a pure FSE one, based solely on Wordpress core
This only affects the Cwicly website and forum.
Louis removed any license checks many versions ago, so the Cwicly plugin should still continue to work even if the Cwicly site went down.
For me, nethertheless this would be serious, as there is a lot of know-how posted here, and loosing contact to this awesome and helpful community here would be a great pity
For cloud options I have messed about with Divhunt. UI is similar to Cwicly and I would argue, better. Webstudio has loads of traction but the UI is a bit rough and itās not production ready atm for more advanced websites. Both of these options you can integrate any CMS (headless) via the REST API. Divhunt would have more advanced options but its not open source like Webstudio. Divhunt you can optionally use their CMS as well.
As @FZwo said, this will lead to the forum dying, and we all lose the great and helpful community. Also meaning that Cwicly will be certified as a dead project with no further development and improvements. No point sticking with such a builder that has no future.
I bought both Divhunt and Webstudio when they dropped on AppSumo.
Divhunt does look pretty good, but there wasnāt a lot of plugins/extensions in the marketplace when I checked.
You said it could be used headless, could you expand on that? Would it be possible to use it with a different CMS that allowed flexibility in hosting? Or would we be stuck with theirs?
In any case, āthe waitā will end soon.
We will find out by March 6 if Louis or whoever for that matter even plans to keep the cwicly.com domain active and someone still at least receives and reads emails.
Honestly after all this absence, for me humanly the most important thing is that Louis is well and nothing has happened to him.
For the plugin, amen ā by then I had long since laid my hopes elsewhere.
Aye just configure it via REST API. HERE is a video about it.
Thanks! Iāll check it out.
Today I decided to look into Webstudio as a possible replacement. It is ā like Bricks ā good but I canāt help myself. Cwicly is always in the back of my mind because with Webstudio I run into many new issues I did not have with Cwicly.
I canāt beliefe to this day that this nice software seems to disappear forever. Once you get how Cwicly works, nothing compares. And Bricks or Webstudio are not easier to understand at all. Especially Webstudio is for sure more complicated! Very, very sadā¦!
Needed to get my frustration out again
I have the same thoughts as you. Iām still struggling to find a replacement for Cwicly. It has been on my mind until now. Itās really hard to describe.
Yes! When I learn about a new builder (Bricks or Webstudio) it is always like āmehh, I donāt like how this or that is doneā or āwhy donāt they just do it like Cwicly does itā. Iāve never had this reaction using Cwicly.
With Cwicly I had always the reaction āoh, thatās nice. I really like how this worksā. Colors, Global Styles, Relative Styling, Font Manager, Components, Nav Block, Conditional Visibility, Dynamic Data, Filter and so on. All that combined with all the great Plugins available with WordPress (Borlabs Cookie, SEO, Affiliate, Analytics, WooCommerce ā¦).
There simply is no other option out there that combines all of that. And ever since I know I could have had all of this, Bricks, Webstudio and the rest is just no funā¦
Are there any recommendations how to migrate sites build on Cwicly to Webstudio or Divhunt?
Itās been quite a while since I last saw Louis return; it feels like he has disappeared without a trace. I still hope that Louis will come back to continue Cwicly.
And in case Cwicly is truly dead, I think we should at least receive an announcement from himāit would be better than everything happening in complete silence.
Yes. Itās been quite a long time since then.
Now, Iām afraid that we canāt see this day. He seems to be missing from his world. I hope he is fine no matter where he is now.
