1.4.2-beta Feedback

Are there more betas planned?
Any rough ETA for the stable release yet?

I guess it’s all about the “applied styles overview” that’s missing yet :crossed_fingers:

Hello @Marius,

We can hopefully release the stable version beginning next week.

The styles overview won’t make it unfortunately. We’re still playing around with different approaches and haven’t made a definitive choice.

I’ll be sharing more info on this once we’re out of beta.

Glad to see this change, and experiencing it live in action, it turns out even better
Thank you for adding, it’s a significant UI improvement!
Also good to see that highlighting the item when active has found its way into the Block Inspector, even if not yet into the Design tab.

The apparent downside is the missing value for dynamic values (or am I missing something?).
Is it possible to display them when using the Dynamic Preview?

Or at least something like this (which also could be used as a fallback when Dynamic Preview isn’t enabled)?

Could the panel title be added somehow in the panel option’s header?

Maybe it’s just me, but I would find that quite useful.

The modal headers could receive some boundary (even if only very subtle, like a tiny shadow).
Currently, the title rather appear a bit as part of the content. Mainly because it’s the same font size (which is a good thing btw. imo).

Lacks a bit in readability, why not using the known design language?

For transitions, it says shadow:

Hello @Marius,

Thank you for sharing all of this, really appreciate it.

Yes, the dynamic value preview is missing. I wanted to get the modal view out before the final release, preparing the dynamic value side of things would have taken longer.
The reason I’m reluctant to include it right now is because I plan to rework dynamic values globally, as they’re sometimes inconsistent depending on their location and need a UI rework also. As this would mean spending time adjusting to the new logic, I’d prefer to wait for it.

Great points :+1:

That does help a lot! I have been playing around with the boolean/toggle experience to see if we can get something that’s more intuitive, but your proposal seems to do that nicely. Thanks for sharing!

Caught that too

I noticed this was actually already included in the beta when you choose input as the tag:

Thank you @Louis!

I appreciate that @Louis. You removed the main pain point :+1:
According to your plans, a transitional solution would be a waste of time. I support the decision as long as the issue is not put off for too long.

The results of Cwicly’s transformation so far are convincing in my opinion. I’m looking forward to the stable version and the broader feedback from other users.

I actually think there are some improvements to the previous version. Especially with regard to the global elements.

The panel navigation does a lot of things right and will hopefully be further refined over time.
As a fan and supporter of the previous tabbed navigation (although not perfect either), after many hours of getting used to it, I can say that the new approach is satisfactory so far, which I didn’t necessarily expect.

Beta 6 broke the builder and reverted to the old UI for me. Tested on 2 installations.

Edit:
Downloaded wrong file, nvm

Had me worried for a second there @Marius!

And I thought I was on to something really big… :male_detective:
Jokes aside, certainly a case of acting too quickly before checking the basics.

The new UI refinements are a decent improvement @Louis

If you allow, I want to add 2 tiny thoughts.

Some spacing for both the item labels and categories would be nice.
For the Default Units modal, the category spacing is in place, although for Panel Options, it should be a bit more decent.

There is an issue now where an additional scrollbar is present when the Navigator is docked.
I believe this comes from the added modal header border, which in this specific case doesn’t make sense and could be removed.

@Louis How about the ability to reorder the global elements?

And how about quick code for the global elements?

Thanks, good point. Unfortunately I missed this as it doesn’t seem to be affecting the height on my end.
